The Human Observed in its Natural Habitat is an exhibition that integrates the historic technology of weaving with the photographic image. Both weaving and photography retain a significant role to the invention of everyday life. By bringing these disciplines into proximity I am interested in exploring a future that is mediated by empathy for the world that we inhabit.
It is a look at our western culture that seems to be moving more and more towards endless distractions, feeling confused and alienated, being very ‘connected’ via social media yet feeling alone and lonely, and living for the weekend.
I would like people to be free to enjoy life. I hate that every monday people sit down at their desks and start counting down the days until the weekend. I know there are benefits to the indoor, sedentary lifestyle that we have adopted, but there are also consequences. I’m interested in looking at alternatives… at considering what life would be like if we chose a different path.
